The Indian Financier for the British empire

The British used to beg in front of this King. For the welfare of the people, 'Shrimant Maharaja Tukojirao Holkar II' had given a loan of one crore rupees to the British.

Maharajadhiraj Raj Rajeshwar Sawai Shri Sir Tukoji Rao II Holkar XI Bahadur[ GCSI CIE (3 May 1835 – 17 June 1886) was the Maharaja of Indore (Holkar State) and a member of the Maratha Holkar dynasty. His birth name was Shrimant Yukaji Jaswant Holkar. He was the son of Raja Shrimant Santoji Rao Holkar, from the collateral branch of the Holkar dynasty.

This king of Indian history, far from bowing his head before the British, he never even undermined the power of the British.

Maharaja Tukojirao Holkar II had made the British themselves his debtor by giving a loan of crores of rupees to the British. He forced the British to beg in front of him.

During that time, this king, known as 'Maharaja of Central India', had given one crore rupees to the British. At that time the British were working on the railway project.

The general public was going to benefit greatly from this. Keeping this in mind, Maharaja Tukojirao Holkar had given this huge amount as a loan.

With the help of this loan, the British successfully completed the work of connecting three railway stations near Indore. With the money given by the Maharaja, the British built three railway lines 'Khandwa-Indore', 'Indore-Ratlam-Ajmer' and Indore-Dewas-Ujjain within seven years.

Of these, 'Khandwa-Indore' line is addressed as 'Holkar State Railway'.

Not only this, keeping in mind the benefit to the general public, he also gave free land to the British for the construction of the railway.

Due to this area being hilly, it took a lot of hard work to lay the railway tracks here. During the construction of this railway track, a big pool was also built on the Narmada River in between.
